ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Welcome to Huxlow Science College. We are a popular and over-subscribed mixed comprehensive with a reputation for innovation, inclusion and lesson quality.

We aim for the highest standards from all members of the college community. As a result, our students have reached high levels of achievement in recent years and this has been recognised by both the DfES and Ofsted. For example, The Fischer Family Trust 2004 database indicates significant areas of excellent achievement over the past 5 years and no areas of underachievement in any indicator for any cohort over the same period.

Huxlow Science College is the neighbourhood comprehensive school serving the communities of Finedon, Irthlingborough, parts of Wellingborough, Woodford and the Addingtons. First opened in 1976, the school site has been developed at regular intervals. We have recently opened new science laboratories, a new ICT lab and a new suite of Maths rooms. We are about to develop our Physical Education spaces and upgrade our facilities and ICT equipment in several areas of the college.

There are 811pupils on the roll, including 60 in the sixth form. We are the County's designated Science College for East Northamptonshire and we are accredited as an Investor in People.

The School was last inspected on 6th November 2007 and the report was extremely positive with Huxlow being identified as a good school with many outstanding features.
