Einstein's is the college catering provision run by a friendly and enthusiastic team who work hard to create nutritional meals, offering a variety of choices that appeal to students, staff and visitors.
As part of the college?s commitment to support the health and well being of all pupils and staff, the provision of a high quality catering service is a priority. During the summer 2006 a huge investment was made in this area to create a very modern, attractive and efficient kitchen/dining area. Many new food initiatives are offered and, in order to comply with recent nutritional guidelines, many changes have gradually been introduced. The new legislation is very complex and the catering team, together with students and the local authority Healthy Food & Drink Team, work hard to ensure these are met.
Theme menus such as Halloween are very popular and the catering team work closely with teachers to support topics in curriculum areas, for example a Spanish day. Students participate in the Food Group meetings and support the development of various initiatives and are encouraged to become involved in associated projects.
Meals are created using fresh produce from local suppliers. Comments received from visitors, staff and students indicate that Einstein?s food service is very popular and successful. Healthy options are offered, including a selection of vegetarian, and the team are constantly experimenting with new and interesting recipes.
At the end of October the college was presented with the prestigious HEARTBEAT award. Standards of hygiene were closely inspected, staff training and menus offered were also carefully scrutinised to ensure the high standards demanded by this award were met. The college was also given the Diamond No Smoking Award.
The kitchen at Huxlow is warm and welcoming and, as all good kitchens should be, a very integral part of college daily life.
Einstein's is a catering service to be proud of and delivers good value whilst still providing high quality, well balanced food.
